On the upcoming podcast, this Wednesday I am going to rant and rave about this, but I figured I put it down in a separate post. Let me know your thought on this…enjoy.
If you didn’t see the news about Alex Jones getting kicked off basically every social media platform and all the people complaining about free speech I’m about to fill you in. Alex Jones is a maniac conservative conspiracy theorist who rants and raves about some outrageous s***.
Take a minute, if you don’t know who he is, and google some of his rant highlights on YouTube…go ahead…I’ll wait. Now that you have a general idea of who he is I get on with it.
Alex Jones pages deleted from Facebook, then YouTube, pinterest, spotify, and iTunes… Well almost everything except the iTunes app store and Twitter.
A bunch of people started bitching about this being the end of free speech on the internet. Alex Jones went on the defensive and posted a ton of stories on his website about the dark days internet censorship being upon us. Even Ben Shapiro dedicated a large portion of his show talking about not agreeing with Jones but going on and on about censorship. Breitbart News, Fox News and many other news outlets, to include Rolling Stone, go on and on and on about censorship and free speech
The way I see it, none of this has to do with free speech in any F****** way.
I do agree that social media companies are really arbitrary in their rule enforcement departments but I’ll get to that in a minute.
So when it comes to free speech on the internet, almost nothing and I do mean almost nothing is actually censored.
Has nobody ever heard of the website 4chan?
I think you should go check out 4chan cuz there is a lot really f***** up things going on over there…just kidding avoid 4chan and save yourself a lot of mental problems.
Almost anybody in today’s world can go to GoDaddy or any of the other hosting services and set up a website about anything they want with basically no fear of being censored or having their content removed.
This is because they are paying for it.
You may not have the loudest bullhorn to promote your message from your tiny-ass website, but at the same time no one is stopping you from recording video, or writing text to put on your website.
The internet is incredibly vast. There’s no end to the internet.
So when I hear people talking about how they’re being censored or how some social media website is not allowing them to post whatever the f*** it makes me really irritated.
You can think about the internet like the United States back in the early 1800s
There were some big cities like New York and Boston out on the East Coast. The cities were crowded and there was lots of corruption and a sense of s*** when it came everyday life. Some people decided to get the f*** of New York and headed West toward the frontier. Life on the frontier was hard there’s no doubt about that, but there was lots and lots of freedom
The major social media companies are a lot like New York in the 1800’s. It’s overly crowded and seems really stupid, so why not head toward the frontier?
You could start your own version of Facebook or whatever you want with nobody telling you how to do it. Like I said the internet is endless!
With that being said don’t we live primarily in a capitalist Society. Where competition and innovation still matter? All these news outlets complaining about free speech and complaining that the major social media websites are monopolies on information is just f****** retarded! This isn’t the days of only three channels on TV.
Back in the early days of TV there were monopolies on all information and if you didn’t play by their rules specifically you got locked the F*** out. This is a completely new world. Sure it’s not easy to go out and start your own thing and in the early days of starting your own thing it’s going to be really quiet because you’ll be alone. But if your thing is good enough they will come!
I read somewhere that the average person only uses between 10 and 20 websites all the time. That doesn’t mean that there are only 10 to 20 websites out there just means most people are incredibly Limited in what you want to see day to day.
There are about a billion other social networks still active where you can go and post all kinds of different s***. The only difference between other social networks and the five major ones are the fact that they have less daily users.
When I hear about internet censorship it really pisses me off because that is the exact opposite of what’s happening. I don’t know how many more times I’m going to say it, but goddamn the internet is a f****** endless!
Believe me, I get it, people are dumb for the most part. People don’t like change. The major social networks are easy to use and it’s tough to anywhere else and learn how to do basically this same shit you post to facebook.
When I hear shit like, we the people ought to decide what gets censored on social media from Fred Campbell, former FCC wireless chief, it really makes me crazy? Why should we get to decide what private companies do?
This guy is f****** retarded!
If that’s the case we the people ought to decide everything like how much I want to pay every month for electric and gas. That would be the exact opposite of a capitalist Society!
That sounds a lot to me like a socialist society to me.
And when an article like that gets printed at Breitbart, a really right-leaning news source, it really pisses me off. It pisses me off because most of the time it seems Breitbart is publishing stories about primarily conservative agenda, but this is counter to that. This isn’t about freedom, this is about people want to be incontrol of private companies! How the F*** is that capitalist in any way? So to publish a story about private companies who provide free service having their policy dictated by the users is f****** ridiculous!
When I see liberal viewpoint of how can conservatives want free speech but bitching about NFL players protesting the flag that also pisses me off because that’s like comparing apples and f****** hand grenades
First off, NFL players are employees they are not simply users. It’s not like the league just allows players to use those stadiums like Facebook allows me to post on their s***. No, players have a much different role in the NFL than anybody using Facebook.
NFL players protesting the flag would be a lot like a YouTube executive protesting the rules at facebook. Yeah, they don’t have much to do with each other when you’re getting paid to be promoting youTube. NFL players are paid to play football and promote the NFL, and I don’t believe anything else. So if their employers tell them while they’re on the clock they can’t do some political s*** I agree. During the off-season when they are not playing if they want to protest what I don’t particularly care and I don’t really think teams should either but hey what the f*** do I know.
All right, I’m getting off subject a little bit here
So let’s talk about the rules of the big social media platforms.
Have you ever read the terms and conditions for any of the social media you signed up for? Of course you haven’t. I’m pretty sure there’s only like one or two people that really know what is in the terms and conditions. I also believe it’s like that for a reason. When they use vague and murky terms to layout basic rules it makes it easy for them to f****** boot you off their s*** for just about anything they don’t like.
If they laid down concrete rules people would very quickly find ways to circumvent the system. That’s just human nature
So they keep the rules arbitrary as f*** and if they don’t like what you post they kick you the f*** off. I’m not saying it’s right, I’m not saying it’s fair, but when was the last time life was fair for you.
I’m pretty sure that for most people life has never been that fair. Outside of kindergarten with the realities of the world we live in life isn’t f****** Fair. I’m not saying don’t try to stand up and argue with Facebook and YouTube about their rules, but what I am saying is, if you feel these companies are just oh so terrible, delete your accounts and move the f*** on. Just stop complaining about s*** not being fair.
Do you have any idea how much work it took get Facebook off the ground? I think Mark Zuckerberg is a terrible f***, but he worked incredibly hard to build Facebook to what it is today. The amount of money it takes to run all the servers to store all those photos, videos, and stupid f****** posts about what you ate is just incredible. Millions and millions of dollars being used to store your dumb shit.
Facebook doesn’t charge anybody a f****** dime and if they did the free market would quickly decide facebook is f****** retarded, but they don’t. It’s a hundred percent free to use and in exchange for their free use they determine what can and can’t be put on their website. Can you imagine for a minute having to pay even 99-cents a month for Facebook. There’s no way in hell I’d stick around. It’s just not that valuable to me and with all their crazy f****** rules you can be sure s*** a lot of people employee delete their accounts and they would quickly die off.
I understand very much that all social media networks arbitrarily enforce rules on what seems to be primarily conservative opinions, but like I said who’s keeping these people there.
The big five are not a monopoly. Not on the internet. The internet is vast and endless.
I haven’t heard one not one person talk about a serious boycott or starting something new. I get it people are afraid of change, and many people are afraid to be away from the crowd. Like I said though, if it’s just that awful delete your account and move the f*** on. Just don’t tell me it’s internet censorship.
The internet is f****** endless!!
Social media is going to continue doing what they do because they have a responsibility their shareholders to make money. Social media does not care about your opinion all that much. If the shareholders are happy and making money then they don’t care what you post. But get the f*** out of here in today’s world saying you’re being held back on the internet. And by the way this is one of the best things that could have happened it to Alex f****** Jones.
His app which is still in the iTunes app store is now at number 4 or 5. It’s the Howard Stern effect. People will listen to him just to hear what crazyshit he’s going to say. So do me a favor down or move the f*** on. Just my opinion and like always what the f*** do I know about anything.
